The Friendship Gala was held in order to promote friendship and international goodwill between the people of Hawaii and the Asia-Pacific region.
Honolulu Festival President Mr. Tsuneo Irita showed his appreciation to participating performers and gave the Best Contribution Awards.
Groups including Descendance, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, Raiatea Helm, Tonosama-Ren, and Suga-Ren performed on stage and made a set the tone for a magnificent party.

The 4th US-Japan Cultural Exchange Seminar Program "Building Friendships
By Playing Hardball"
Three panelists discussed the friendship of US-Japan through the key word "Baseball" from different perspectives. Audience young and old, especially Japanese-Americans, attended this seminar and heard their stories.
Wally Yonamine was a baseball player, a coach and also a manager in the Japanese professional baseball world. He talked about his unique and interesting experiences in Japan. Mr. Duane Kurisu talked about Hawaii's winter league and its connections to Japan.
