Ito Yosakoi (糸よさこい) is a yosakoi dance team that was started in San Francisco Japantown in 2017 to promote yosakoi as a cultural art and support the Japanese American community. Its name “Ito” means “thread,” symbolizing the ties woven together between members of a community. In 2018, Ito Yosakoi was officiated as a Yosakoi Ambassador team by the government of Kochi, where yosakoi originated. They have performed at events including the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival and for the San Francisco Giants.
