OWARA (The Wind Season Bon Dance)is a festival held in the town of Yatsuo in Toyama Prefecture annually to repose the soul of the wind god so that there will be a bountiful harvest of rice. Having a history of over 300 years, 250,000 visitors attend over the three day festival to this sparsely populated town in the mountains. Michiko Wakabayashi, a kokyu instrumentalist, and her students will share the magic of this festival at the 19th Annual Honolulu Festival.
