During the Nagaoka Grand Fireworks Festival held annually on August 2nd and 3rd, approximately 20,000 shots of fireworks bloom in the night sky over Nagaoka. At our booth, we will be displaying full-size replicas of fireworks shells and Yamakoshi’s Nishikigoi (multi-colored ornamental carp.) Visitors can also enjoy tasting some of Nagaoka’s Japanese sake, a regional specialty of which we are especially proud.

Our group uses traditional Japanese kimono to design stylish and modern products. We create finished products that remain very Japanese, making use of its original patterns and colors.

-Pray for Peace Exhibit- We would like to express the importance of peace through Japan’s culture and art. This is our third time to participate in the Honolulu Festival. Our display includes the work of artists throughout Japan, their paintings, calligraphy and industrial arts. We will also feature Japan’s revered short verse literature, haiku, tanka and comic haiku. These will be written and displayed on Japanese folding fans that have been enhanced by the famous Aizu region technique of Makie (lacquer decoration sprinkled with metal powder).
Chalk Art YUKI BOARD WORKSCraft/Demonstration
YUKI BOARD WORKS is chalk art using the fingers to draw with oil pastels. This technique of painting is not yet known in Hawaii’s art scene. Our goal is to introduce it to Hawaii through the Honolulu Festival annually. Please take this opportunity and visit us at our craft booth.

Our group consists of 45 members. We love various forms of handicrafts and have been creating them since 1973. We are involved in annual craft charity bazaars as well as the National Public Prefectural Handicraft Exhibition. We are looking for creative pieces for the 39th National Public Prefectural Handicraft Exhibition to be held in November of this year.
Mission of Brush Art AssociationCraft/Demonstration
Our group goal is to spread throughout the world traditional forms of brush art, such as calligraphy and India-ink painting. We organize exhibitions with artists from Japan, Taiwan, Korea and China. Our 10th exhibition will be showcased at the 17th Annual Honolulu Festival. Please join us.

Our group Otaki Castle Handmade Samurai Costume consists of 60 members. We have made over 100 samurai costumes. We participate as volunteers in the Otaki Castle Samurai Parade as well as other events and ceremonies.
