Yasuko Shimizu and Her Fellow Singers perform at various dinner shows and concerts throughout the year. We have also been performing at 54 charity concerts for “The Fountain of Angels” for the last 22 years to support conquering pediatric cancer. This will be our 21th consecutive time to participate in the Honolulu Festival. We believe that we can reach everyone’s heart through music. We continue to take part in promoting US-Japan friendship and cultural exchange.
Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko HawaiiMusic Performance
Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko originated in 1982, combining traditional Eisa and Karate forms with contemporary influences and music to create a new and unique taiko style. RMD remains headquartered in Okinawa, however the club has grown tremendously and now includes chapters all around the world. Lau KaukaniMusic Performance
In Hawaiian language, lau means “leaf” and kaukani means “thousand.” We named our hula team Lau Kaukani “thousand leaves” as it is the literal translation of Chiba, our hometown in Japan.
The Habibi Hawaii EnsembleMusic Performance
The Habibi Hawaii Ensemble is a performance troupe of dancers and drummers representing authentic movements and rhythms of the Middle East. The members are all of different ages, backgrounds and nationalities. The Ensemble is Directed by Shadiya who is an award winning performer, international instructor and professional entertainer in Honolulu. She is also the President of the Middle Eastern Dance Artists of Hawaii. The Habibi Hawaii Ensemble specializes in traditional dances from Egypt and North Africa, and seeks to preserve culture and honor diversity through the celebration music and dance.
Hoku ZuttermeisterMusic Performance
Hoku Zuttermeister was born in Kaneohe, Oahu and was brought up with a love for the Hawaiian culture and its music. In June 2008, the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts bestowed Hoku’s debut album, “Aina Kupuna”, with 10 Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominations in which the album won six. This award is Hawaii’s equivalent to the Grammy Award.

Global Drums Steel Band from Canada is excited to return for the 25th Annual Honolulu Festival! This group is one of Canada’s leading percussion ensembles with tours in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Trinidad, London, Amsterdam and Hawaii.
