My name is Kiyoko Hattori from the town of Oguni in Nagaoka City, famous for the Nagaoka Fireworks. I have visited Honolulu several times to join the events that promote the friendship between Niigata and Hawaii, but this is my first time at the Honolulu Festival. I will perform Japanese songs for the people of Hawaii.

“Umaimon Koshien” is the most delicious food competition for high school in Japan which is the 6th event in this year. Three high school students of Miyagi Agricultural high school in Miyagi prefecture took the first prize. As a special program of Umaimon Koshien, the students come to Honolulu “Shirokiya” and release the menu in a limited quantity. It sounds yummy!! Please visit and try it!!

Sakurakomachi Japanese Music and Dance Group is an all-female orchestra that plays traditional Japanese music and folk songs with instruments such as koto, shamisen, shinobue and wadaiko. As an orchestra consisting entirely of women from Japan, we strive to create attractive and inspirational art. We are active internationally and perform all over the world every year.

Chigasaki-City Unicycle Japan Champion UCHIDA Sister & Brothers


In Chigasaki City there resides a famous unicycle siblings, eldest sister Aoi was the winner in 2017 All Japan Track & Field Competition in the Girls Unicyle Obstacle Race, and placed 2nd in the 100 m Intermediate School division. In the same competition her eldest brother Misaki place first in the single tire riding competition in The Elementary School division. Youngest brother Yuki placed 2nd in the Unicycle Obstacle race Elementary School Division, he had won 4 out of 5 unicycle competition.

Hawaii is an extraordinary place where nature meets aloha. Nani Pomaikai, our instructor, fell in love with hula and Hawaiian ribbon lei, and now offers lei-making classes. We are very excited to participate as a craft vendor for the first time.

Halau (hula school) of Hula o Mahinalani is located in Ota, Gunma. Our students range in age from 3 to 75, and they all enjoy our classes and dancing hula to the sounds of mellow Hawaiian music.

Mika Otsuka is an artist from Watarasebashi 43, an idol group promoting the city of Ashikaga, Tochigi. Ashikaga is known for its finest meisen fabric, which has been brought to Hawaii and used to make aloha shirts. She will perform her new songs dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii.
