Doyo Chorus UtanakamaMusic Performance
Our chorus group is composed of ladies in their 60s to 80s. They join our group to promote their health and make new friends, where they sing together, laugh together and create a great chorus! Our members practice under the motto of “Learning for Life.”
International Pearl Meister AssociationCraft/Demonstration
International Pearl Meister Association is engaged in activities to make pearls, and particularly Japanese Akoya pearls, more familiar to people around the world. We expand and promote the potential of pearls, such as its use in artwork and nails.
Osaka University LoveLive! groupDance/Performance
Love Live! Club from Osaka University is all about “Love Live!,” a Japanese anime series that became widely popular around the world. Our dance team usually consists of 9 people, but for the Honolulu Festival, 7 of them will show their undying love for Love Live! through the dance adapted from the anime.
Our group consists of the students of modeling schools in Japan and Hawaii members. We would like to express cultural exchange and personal encounters on our very first stage of the Honolulu Festival. It is our hope to become a bridge of happiness among Japan, Hawaii and the Pacific Rim countries through our performance.
“The Night of Myths and Japanese Immigrants” – We will recite Japanese myths in commemoration of the 150th anniversary since Japanese people first migrated to Hawaii.
Osaka University Shodo ClubDance/Performance
This is our first time in the Honolulu Festival. You may associate Japanese calligraphy with tranquility, but we would like to reshape the image with our dynamic calligraphy performance with music. Please enjoy the traditional cultural performance met with contemporary music!
Lohas Festa, with the theme of “grass roots environmental movement leads to great social activities” aiming for “lifestyle with consideration for health and a sustainable society”, since 2006 in all over Japan. It is an environmental awareness event, exceeding 250,000 visitors each year.
Kwansei Gakuin University Hula group KukuiHula
Kukui is a hula group at Kwansei Gakuin University from Nishinomiya, Hyogo. It is our second time to join the Honolulu Festival. We learn about hula and Hawaii through the participation in the annual College Hula Competition held in Yokohama, as well as local hula events.
JAPAN NANKIN TAMASUDARE ASSOCIATIONTraditional Performance
We perform both nationally and internationally in order to showcase Nankin Tamasudare, a traditional Japanese street performance, to people around the world. We hold the Guinness record of “the largest parade of people performing Nankin Tamasudare,” which we challenged in May 2013. We look forward to seeing all of you at the Honolulu Festival!
SONODA GAKUEN HIGH SCHOOLDance/Performance
We are Sonoda Gakuen High School from Amagasaki, Hyogo, and this is our 13th time in the Honolulu Festival. This year, about 300 sophomores perform the dance they have been practicing for a year at the Grand Parade. Please enjoy their cheerful and energetic dance!
