Kukui is a hula group at Kwansei Gakuin University from Nishinomiya, Hyogo. It is our second time to join the Honolulu Festival. We learn about hula and Hawaii through the participation in the annual College Hula Competition held in Yokohama, as well as local hula events.

It is our 8th time joining the Honolulu Festival. We believe that the Aloha Spirit is very important in dancing hula, which we enjoy from the bottom of our heart. Please come see us and show your Aloha Spirit!

We have come from snowy Hokkaido to sunny Honolulu looking forward to performing hula at the Honolulu Festival! Our members usually practice at different locations, but we hope you can feel the sense of unity in our well-coordinated performance.

Our team was created by members of the Fukuoka branch of the Hawaii Senior Life Enrichment Association, and hula dancers in Kyushu on March 11, 2013. Our performance supports the children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

This group was formed 18 years ago with the desire to “shine forever” as our motto. We keep dancing for the sake of healthy mind and body through hula and ukulele. We look forward to being able to dance feeling the Hawaiian breeze. MAHALO

It’s the 7th time we join the Honolulu Festival. We are on a hula training trip consisting of performing at the Ala Moana Center and the Grand Parade, as well as socializing with kumus. We hope to further promote the tie with Hawaii, and live a fulfilling life through hula.
