Shishi Odori Deer Dance PerformanceDance/Performance
The Deer Dance is the Iwate prefecture’s most famous performing art and is recognized as the Intangible Folk Customs and Cultural Asset. Performers wear a deer head with horns, and their backs are covered by an overcoat called “Sasara.” While vigorously beating a drum tied on to their waists, they sing and dance in a grand fashion.
We really enjoy dancing hula, one of the prominent traditions of Hawaii. We are hoping to promote friendship between Hawaii and Japan through our activities in learning and dancing hula. We will be blessed to dance hula in Hawaii, the birthplace of this graceful custom, feeling the tropical breezes on our bodies and filling our minds.
