JAPAN NANKIN TAMASUDARE ASSOCIATION

We perform both nationally and internationally in order to showcase Nankin Tamasudare, a traditional Japanese street performance, to people around the world. We hold the Guinness record of “the largest parade of people performing Nankin Tamasudare,” which we challenged in May 2013. We look forward to seeing all of you at the Honolulu Festival!

The Saitama Ryujin Festival Association aims for the development of the local society through “Ryujin” the symbol of Saitama City. It is the god of the dragon “Ryujin” who rises to the sky to give us water and hope. Everyone, “Ryujin, Ryujin”, please cheer us up!

Sogaimiti & Malu Organization

Traditional Performance

Sogaimiti is the premiere club and organization within the United States promoting traditional and authentic Samoan tatau (tattoo) culture. Its members are Samoan men and women of all ages who have all received the full body tattoo through the traditional Samoan methods which date back hundreds of years. It is these traditions which they strive to maintain in these modern times to uphold their history, culture and pride. Their mission is to develop future leaders, mentor the youth to become self-reliant and contributing members of society and to always lead by example by embracing the values, customs and responsibilities entrusted to them through their traditional tattoo.

Kawaii Kon

Kawaii Kon is a three-day convention event dedicated to creating a broader awareness of, and appreciation for Japanese animation by celebrating the richness of this art form. The convention promotes the growth of the anime and manga fan base in Hawaii, as well as growth of related community groups, businesses and industries both here and abroad. In addition to providing a central event for fans and enthusiasts, Kawaii Kon seeks to become a vehicle for sharing and disseminating industry information. Kawaii Kon also provides the community and related industries the opportunity to network and conduct business. Fans, artists and industry guests gather from all over the world here in Hawaii for this 3-day extravaganza.

Nichinan Kagura (Noh) Dance “Jinkosha”

Our group Nichinan Kagura Jinkosha performs Noh about the legendary god Kadonokami of the Nichinan district. We will use elements of Bicchu Kagura and Izumo Kagura, fusing both styles resulting in a very original Kagura Noh dance.

Hokkaido Ainu Culture

Irankarapte (Let me touch your heart softly…) We will introduce Hokkaido’s unique Ainu culture. At our exhibit booth, you can experience traditional Ainu costumes with distinctive patterns, ancient Ainu dances and music played with mukkuri (a musical instrument).

Hirosaki Neputa Manji Kai

Established in 2010, we have been conducting performances such as Hirosaki Neputa operation and festival music in Tsugaru native district at events in and outside the prefecture including Hirosaki City. The Honolulu Festival is our representative overseas activities, we have received the Best Service Award from the Honolulu Festival Foundation and have been highly evaluated locally.

Oedo Tamasudaretai

Traditional Performance

“Share the greatness of old Edo with the people of today!” We want to show you the heart and spirit, the true meaning of being “Edokko” (a person of Edo )through the art of “Oedo Tamasudare.” The creative Tamasudare has been performed to a sold out crowd at Carnegie Hall in New York. The many, unique techiniques of this traditional form of Japanese street entertainment are greatly admired. We want to show you our very best! Please enjoy.

Kanto-region Friends of Ibusuki

Our group is the winner of the “Kagoshima Ohara Festival in Shibuya” held in May each year. Wah hah ha! Wah hah ha! We laugh wholeheartedly, dance, sweat and live life to the fullest. This is a special encounter! This is fate! This is happiness! Suki Suki Ibusuki Love Love Chesutoike, (which means “Let’s advance as if there is no tomorrow” in the Kagoshima dialect.)

The Echigo Banzai Shishimai will dance around the event area to the beat of the drums and flute. They will make the crowd laugh with their presentation and cheer “banzai” for long life.
