We really enjoy dancing hula, one of the prominent traditions of Hawaii. We are hoping to promote friendship between Hawaii and Japan through our activities in learning and dancing hula. We will be blessed to dance hula in Hawaii, the birthplace of this graceful custom, feeling the tropical breezes on our bodies and filling our minds.
Kinshukai Saitama BranchDance/Performance
Kinshukai is a music-educational organization with a mission to promote taisho-koto. This is the first participation from Saitama Branch. Please enjoy the sound of taishogoto, which was invented in Japan.
Shishi Odori Deer Dance PerformanceDance/Performance
The Deer Dance is the Iwate prefecture’s most famous performing art and is recognized as the Intangible Folk Customs and Cultural Asset. Performers wear a deer head with horns, and their backs are covered by an overcoat called “Sasara.” While vigorously beating a drum tied on to their waists, they sing and dance in a grand fashion.
Waseda University “Odori Zamurai”Dance/Performance
This naruko (castanets) dance team is led by Waseda University students. Their powerful energy isn’t confined to Japan–they will burst with vigor in Hawaii. Each dancer’s facial expression is a must-see.
Traditional Entertainment Nankintamasudare Kyoto NetsuaikaiDance/Performance
We are a senior volunteer group practicing Nankintamasudare in Kyoto. Members are all cheerful, fun, and energetic. We will present our tamasudare performance with our original music, so please enjoy the show.
In 1997, Keita Ijiri and Shotaro Konya teamed up as the “Alchemist.” From the first moment Shotaro sang a song to Keita’s piano, they made a perfect duo. Since then, their journey of searching for their “alchemy of music” continues.

The Koyama School of Tsugaru Shamisen celebrates the 48th year since its foundation. Many bright musicians belong to the School, and they play not only traditional Minyo folk songs, but also various other musical genres.
